New York City police said they arrested 21 people after they sat down on the parade, protesting with Palestinian flags and a “Don’t Celebrate Genocide” banner. It was the second year in a row that a group ran in front of the Ronald McDonald float to briefly stop the parade. Protestors against Israel’s war in Gaza also interrupted the 2023 Thanksgiving Day parade.This year, pro-Palestine protestors jumped the barricades at West 55th Street around 9:30 a.m., sitting on the ground and locking arms while chanting, “Free, free Palestine!”Others held a banner behind them which read, “Don’t celebrate genocide!
