UNo one was found dead in the Brussels metro tunnel between Louise and Porte de Namur stations, Stib told Belga on Thursday morning. Traffic is interrupted on lines 2 and 6 between Elisabeth and Porte de Hal stations.

It was a Stib agent who discovered the body on the metro tracks last night between Louise and Porte de Namur, specifies the Brussels public transport company. Police and emergency services are on site, causing metro traffic to be interrupted for an indefinite period.

Furthermore, the central station on the metro side was also evacuated on police orders, the Brussels transport service confirms. “Nothing to report,” said the federal police and the Stib. It had to be evacuated following a suspicious package spotted within the station.

“The sweeping as well as our controls turned out to be negative. The station is now reopened to the public,” confirmed the federal police.

Everything is back to normal, confirms the Stib. The Gare Centrale metro station, which was no longer served while the suspicious package (“a backpack”) was being checked by the federal police, is now operating normally.
