Coming from abroad, mysterious letters were received by the Colint School training center in Saône-et-Loire. According to the prefecture, they contained a white powder which tested positive for the plague.
“No symptoms have been reported to date” by people exposed to the envelopes, but the authorities have not specified the number of these “potential victims”.
According to France Bleu, these would be six employees of this training center located in the La Sucrerie district. Colint School is a private school which teaches digital professions and has around thirty students.
The watch cell lifted
The people concerned were in any case placed under medical supervision at the university hospital center (CHU) of Chalon-sur-Saône. This establishment has a nuclear radiological biological and chemical structure (NRBC).
The monitoring unit which had been activated “in order to put in place all precautionary measures and coordinate the action of the various intervention and rescue services” was lifted this Wednesday early in the evening.
A specialized laboratory was requested to carry out additional analysis of this suspicious powder. According to the Pasteur Institute, the last cases of plague to occur in France date from 1945, in Corsica.
