Liverpool enjoyed another historic result under Arne Slot with the Reds beating Real Madrid 2-0 in the UEFA Champions League at Anfield.
Having lost two finals and a quarter-final series against Los Blancos since 2018, Liverpool finally managed to get their revenge on Carlo Ancelotti’s side with a comfortable victory against the reigning European champions.
With Liverpool extending their winning run in this season’s Champions League to five games, the Anfield side are in an incredible position to automatically qualify for the round of 16 of the competition, an achievement that would be huge for Slot’s side.
And one moment by a Liverpool player in the first half left Steve McManaman blown away.
Conor Bradley lauded after ‘wonderful’ tackle on Kylian Mbappe
Speaking on TNT Sports coverage of the game, the former Liverpool and Madrid star was left amazed by Conor Bradley’s tackle on Kylian Mbappe, with the Northern Ireland international winning the ball off the French superstar with a fantastic challenge in the final-third.
Bradley won praise from Caoimhin Kelleher and Tyler Morton after Liverpool’s 3-2 win against Southampton on Sunday, with the 21-year-old defender filling in for the injured Trent Alexander-Arnold expertly at right-back.
And McManaman loved Bradley’s performance at Anfield against Madrid, with the defender’s tackle on Mbappe a notable highlight for the Liverpool fullback, who kept the Los Blancos no. 9 quiet for the majority of the match.
McManaman said: “It was a wonderful moment wasn’t it. Real Madrid suddenly on the break, fantastic strong challenge and suddenly the crowd are up. What a moment for Conor Bradley. A cruncher against one of the best.”
Bradley introduced himself to the world against Real Madrid
Bradley had been a highly-rated talent at Liverpool for quite some time, yet it’s hard to thing of a better performance from the defender than what we saw tonight against Madrid.
The Liverpool no. 84 was simply unstoppable down the right for Liverpool, with Bradley assisting Mac Allister with an incredible move and equally impressing at the back against one of the best attacks in world football.
Indeed, if Alexander-Arnold is to leave next summer, Liverpool have a readymade replacement already in the squad in Bradley, and the defender showed tonight that he can become a superstar fullback at Anfield.
