“It’s the first crisis”
After the next bitter disappointment, RB Leipzig’s leading players stood in front of their coach Marco Rose. “I can’t imagine a better coach for us at the moment. I think the team has a responsibility now. We have young players, but they also have to take the next step and become even more mature,” said RB captain Willi Orbán (32) after the 0-1 defeat at Inter Milan in the Champions League.
It was not only the fifth defeat in a row in the premier class, but also the fifth competitive game in a row without a win. “It’s the first crisis we’ve had together with the coach, we have to give him the trust. Now we boys are challenged,” said defense chief Orbán. The next Bundesliga game against VfL Wolfsburg follows on Saturday (3:30 p.m./Sky).
Goalkeeper Péter Gulácsi (34) also did not want to blame anyone for the first real sporting crisis in Rose’s three-year tenure. “We have to stick together now and get out of this together,” said the Hungarian. He hopes for a turnaround in the premier class: “In the end, you don’t know how many points you need to get further. We have to make sure we absolutely win our home game this year. And then we’ll see what else is possible.”
With the current personnel situation, it won’t be easy for the Saxons. Against Inter there were only five outfield players on the bench; Viggo Gebel, who turned 17 last Friday, was the youngest Leipzig player to make his debut. Particularly bitter: Substitute Assan Ouédraogo (18) had to go down injured after just a few minutes. “He represented himself and I was afraid that it was his knee again,” said Rose, who gave the slight all-clear. “In the end it seems to have been a tweak in the thigh.” Nevertheless, they only have “14 healthy players” and “only 13 in the next Champions League game because Lukeba is also suspended.” The Frenchman saw his third yellow card.
For Rose herself, the calculation is still simple. “The situation now is simple, easy. There are three games, we need nine points. Aston Villa is the first final, I believe that with nine points you actually have the chance to advance,” said the RB coach before the final weeks in the premier class with the duels on December 10th against Aston Villa and on January 22nd against Sporting Lisbon and then on January 29th at Sturm Graz.
RB Leipzig interested in Kolo Muani and Rosenfelder
As “Sport Bild” reports, after the mixed performances, the sporting management is also analyzing how they could improve through squad changes. In addition to Loïs Openda (24), Leipzig wants more speed in the squad. As before, the magazine brings “Sky” Randal Kolo Muani (25) into play. The former Frankfurt player is only a replacement at PSG and was recently considered a candidate for sale. However, Kolo Muani himself had emphasized that he wanted to push through.

In addition, according to “Sport Bild”, RB Leipzig is also monitoring the development of Max Rosenfelder (21). The SC Freiburg U21 international is the fastest central defender in the Bundesliga this season at 35.91 km/h. After Rosenfelder was completely out of action last season due to injury, he was set to start under new coach Julian Schuster. After back problems, he has mainly only played from the bench in recent weeks.
