The second part of Vaiana hits theaters this Wednesday, one month before Christmas. Disney is once again banking on this rebellious heroine to fill up on entries.
Good news for parents: eight years after the release of Moana: The Legend of the End of the Worldthe sequel hits theaters this Wednesday, November 27. A new trip to the Pacific, with new songs.
After receiving an unexpected invitation from her ancestors, the young rebel heroine Moana sets off on a journey that will take her to the dangerous waters at the edge of the seas of the Pacific Islands.
“This film offers you a journey,” Mareva Galanter, the French voice of Sina, Vaiana’s mother, tells BFMTV. “You travel to these remote islands in the Pacific. The scenery is breathtaking. The images are sublime.”
Huge success
Enough to delight young audiences, who over the last eight years have acclaimed the film to make it the most popular on the Disney+ platform (and one of the most streamed films on all platforms combined).
“We were very surprised (to learn that),” reacts Anthony Kavanagh, French voice of the god Maui. “It’s not surprising, because it’s made for everyone,” adds Cerise Calixte, who voices the character of Vaiana in French.
The first film owes its fame to its songs. “I have had messages on social networks every week for eight years from parents who write to me asking me to sing the song (from the film),” says Anthony Kavanagh.
“Parents tell me that they are tired of listening to the album of Vaiana“, continues the actor. “They ask me if we are going to release a second one. Well we're releasing a second one! There are finally new songs.”
“From the emotion of laughter”
The sequel will live up to expectations, he assures. “There's everything in this film. It's off to a flying start. There's emotion, laughter. There's something for the whole family. The songs are great.”
Musical-style songs rub shoulders with more hip hop pieces. “The songs are super difficult. There are lots of different styles,” underlines Cerise Calixte, former candidate of The Voice who performs six songs in the film.
“We discover the songs when we arrive at the studio,” she says. “It's a very difficult exercise and at the same time which brings a lot of freshness. I just knew that the songs were going to be difficult. I warmed up vocally a month before.”
The actors are preparing to receive a lot of messages from fans after the release. “I can’t wait to get people’s feedback,” says Cerise Calixte. “I arrived at the start of recordings with pressure. People have an expectation.”
“I have to live up to this expectation,” she adds. “At the beginning, it was very difficult. Then very quickly I told myself that I had to let go. I projected myself on stage with the audience.”
