From August 2025, Enedis plans to introduce new off-peak time slots adapted according to the seasons to take advantage of renewable energies.
Today in France, 3 out of 4 households benefit from 8 off-peak hours and 16 peak hours. This provides savings of 30% when consumers use their electrical appliances during off-peak hours, often at night. But all this will soon change. Enedis has decided to review its time slot system, reports RMC.
In order to take advantage of renewable energies, the electricity supply company wishes to set up new off-peak time slots adapted according to the seasons. Thus, these time slots could be moved from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. from November to March.
A bill of 42 euros for those resistant to Linky meters
Between April and October, off-peak hours would be moved from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. During the summer period, where solar electricity production is abundant, new slots could be set up from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Enedis wants to proceed gradually. Thus, the implementation of these new timetables will take place over two to three years from August 2025.
Another change planned by the electricity supply company: invoicing for those who resist Linky meters. Today, 2.1 million French people still refuse to install this smart meter. The Energy Regulatory Commission should decide in early 2025 to impose a bill of almost 42 euros per year minimum on protesters. Another bill of 25 euros will be added if users do not send their consumption statement themselves.
