Luis Enrique, PSG coach, regrets the delayed tackle by Ousmane Dembélé which earned him a red and left his partners outnumbered for half an hour during the defeat against Bayern (1-0) on Tuesday.
If he assumes all his decisions and takes his share of responsibility, Luis Enrique had little taste of the expulsion of Ousmane Dembélé on Tuesday during PSG's defeat at Bayern Munich (1-0) in the Champions League. Warned in the first period for protest, the Parisian striker received a second yellow card for a late tackle on Alphonso Davies (57th). And the Parisian coach regretted this gesture which penalized his team, then leading since the opening score of Kim Min-jae (38th).
“Playing ten against this team…”
“My impression is that in the first half we were not very far away, but we were not able to overcome their pressing, they recovered high and our pressing was not good, we did not recover in their half,” he said at a press conference.
“At the start of the second half there were reasons to hope,” he added. “In the first 10-15 minutes, we gave the impression of creating more danger, but there was this exclusion, which was a serious error. We lost a player and played ten against this team… But the last half hour remained positive because we were able to stay in the match until the end even though Bayern deserved their victory without a doubt.”
The Spanish technician assures that he is not angry while feeling frustration over his team's inability to change the rhythm of the match in the first half. “The defeats are embarrassing but it allows us to have information on the players for the future, to see where we are going,” he said, turning to the rest of the very perilous competition for PSG, provisionally 26th and eliminated from the competition.
“We have to win the last three matches otherwise we risk being eliminated,” warned Luis Enrique, while PSG only has four points. “On the attack for the last three matches!”
