According to our colleagues from France Bleu, we should expect a very complicated day in transport, particularly on the SNCF network throughout the Loire department.
The weather promises to be difficult, marked by strong gusts of wind preventing trains from running. The SNCF has therefore decided to cancel most of the scheduled trains in order not to pose any risk to travelers and agents mobilized today.
Orange Alert
The departments of Loire and Haute-Loire are currently on orange alert. Certain areas of the territory are particularly affected with gusts of up to 120 km/h. The Pilat massif and the Gier valley are particularly exposed.
Several lines have thus been closed to traffic, like the one which provides the Lyon – Saint-Etienne – Le Puy-en-Velay connection. Likewise, the Saint-Etienne – Roanne – Montbrison route is not insured, as is the Lyon – Roanne – Clermont connection. These preventive closures are part of the SNCF “Stop Circulation” system which prevents trains carrying passengers from getting stuck on the tracks. As soon as the situation returns to normal, officers will do everything necessary to put the trains back into service.
