One of Willy Delajod's assistant referees was hit by a projectile thrown from the south stand of the Armand-Cesari stadium, during the Bastia-Lorient match in Ligue 2, Saturday November 23.
In the 37th minute, while supporters chanted “F***ing referee”, Willy Delajod whistled and sent everyone back to the locker room. The match of the 14th day of Ligue 2 between SC Bastia and FC Lorient, Saturday November 23 at the Armand-Cesari stadium, was interrupted after a projectile thrown from the south stand at assistant referee Stéphane Panont.
According to beIN Sports, broadcaster of the match, the assistant referee was targeted by food and a lighter. Frédéric Antonetti, technical director of the Corsican club, went to the stand to talk with the supporters.
The match has resumed
After more than twenty minutes of interruption, Willy Delajod appeared before the press to announce the resumption of play at 9:15 p.m. and after 15 minutes of warm-up.
“The safety of the players, my referee team and all the players, will be very important throughout the rest of the match. A reinforced security system will be put in place to protect Stéphane Panont. We will be very vigilant. The decision has taken by the safety committee”, informed the central referee.
When the match was stopped, the score was 0-0. SC Bastia had been reduced to ten men since the 32nd minute, following a direct red card received by Jocelyn Janneh, guilty of a dangerous tackle near the halfway line.
