The match: OM reverses everything after the break
After a moving tribute to Gervais Martel, who kicked off a match at the Bollaert stadium for the first time in his career two days after celebrating his 70th birthday, RC Lens entered the match much better than OM on Saturday and clearly dominated the first period. The Lensois were better everywhere, in intensity and in pressing, often preventing OM from leaving their camp. So much so that OM only touched one ball in the Lens area in the first period, on a huge scoring opportunity wasted by Neal Maupay (41st). But the Lensois did not succeed in concretizing their hold on the match, Mbala Nzola, Deiver Machado and David Pereira da Costa, in particular, having lacked success against an excellent Geronimo Rulli, the OM goalkeeper. Tossed around throughout the first half, OM became much more bloody after the break and took a deserved advantage by scoring two nice, very collective goals.
