Mathieu Johann was Grégory Lemarchal's comrade in season 4 of Star Academy. Near Tele-Leisurethe former academician returned to their adventure and explained that the late singer had the right to a medical room due to his cystic fibrosis.
There was no doubt about it for anyone. In season 4 of the Star Academyeveryone had fallen for Grégory Lemarchal and his extraordinary voice. From the first bonus, the candidate suffering from cystic fibrosis had impressed everyone with his recovery of All the cries, the SOSby Daniel Balavoine. It is therefore no surprise that he won the adventure, against Lucie Bernardoni, with 80% of the public votes. But it was at the age of only 23 that Karine Ferri's ex was carried away by illness in 2007. It was therefore obvious that the students of the 2024 class of the Star Academy pay tribute to him this Saturday, November 23, in a special bonus.
The opportunity for Mathieu Johann, also a candidate for season 4, to remember his comrade from the adventure. “The first time I discovered it was during prime rehearsals. We are all still complete strangers to each other. I see this boy, but I don't know he is sick. I see that he has a very impressive vocal range, he is very handsome, very nice. For me, he's the winner and I tell myself that if the semi-finalist facing him thinks he'll win, he's a complete idiot!”, recalled Badia’s companion.
Why did Grégory Lemarchal have a medical room?
Near Tele-Leisurethe former singer explained how he discovered Grégory Lemarchal's illness. “We only talked about it oncein his room where I was able to stay twenty minutes with him. I discovered Grégory's universe which was not at all the same as ours. He didn't sleep in the dorms with us. His was medicalized, and disinfected and cleaned every day. He was also very sad not to sleep in the same room as us.”, remembered Clémence Castel’s ex. If Grégory Lemarchal was entitled to an arrangement for his room, he did not benefit from any privileges the rest of the time.
“He did the same things as us, he was always punctual and on top of what we had to dohe had his medical care with physiotherapists who came twice a day to the castle“, clarified Mathieu Johann. And if production has always been “very attentive” to the candidate, the latter was not the type to let illness guide his days. “He was the first one to do stupid things, practice and sing all the time”, he remembered.
