Insane moment as Noni Madueke blocks Cole Palmer’s shot on the line

Chelsea should be 2-0 up against Leicester, and only an incredible block has saved the Foxes.

Mads Hermansen spilled the ball after a shot and it fell to Cole Palmer just yards out. But his shot from point blank range was stopped on the line.

Unfortunately for Chelsea, that block came from one of their own players – Noni Madueke had been chasing the follow up too, and despite jumping he couldn’t get out of the way of Palmer’s effort.

It looks absurd, and you don’t see it much in the Premier League, but anyone who has played football at any level knows that this sort of thing just happens sometimes – there’s not much you can do in either player’s position. Palmer has to hit it first time, Madueke does his best to jump out of the way.

They both smiled it off after, which is what you want to see. We’re sure both have been on either end of similar situations before, albeit perhaps not in such a comically close position to the net.

You can see the incredible moment in the clips embedded here:

Chelsea need to score a couple more to forget comedy moment

This was a moment of pure comedy, but it still bodes well for the second half. Chelsea tore through Leicester on the counter once again to set up this chance, and they will soon be able to laugh it off if they get the second goal they deserve.

On the other hand, if we end up with anything less than a win at this point, there will not be any smiles when looking back at this. Even before this chance we dominated the first half and still could only score one.
