A gathering was held this Saturday morning, with an appointment set in front of the old Maison de la Culture. It took place as part of the international day against family violence and under the leadership of Cher Family Planning.
Around one hundred and fifty people were at the rally organized in front of the former Maison de la Culture in Bourges as part of the international day against violence against women. The procession then wandered through the Berruyère city, stopping in particular in front of the court.

Emmanuelle Presson, one of the co-presidents of Family Planning, with Laurence Huort, indicates that around ten active volunteers keep the structure alive.
“We are here in particular to support women who want to file a complaint or for them to join a support group,” she declares.

At a time when the Mazan rape trial, highlighting chemical submission, unfolds its horrors from week to week, it is more than symbolic to make your voice heard. “We wanted to write, on a sheet, the first name and profession of each of the 52 accused in this trial,” emphasizes Emmanuelle Presson.

Nationally, the police and gendarmerie services recorded 444,700 victims of physical violence, and 114,700 victims of sexual violence in 2023. The latter are an increase of 7% compared to 2022.
Lift taboos
One of the objectives of this gathering is to encourage lifting the taboo on violence against women, whether psychological, physical or sexual.
Stickers with clear messages: “I’m not “your beauty”, “When you insist, you harass”; “Fear changes sides, the rapist is you” or “Touch your butt.”.
Many men were present at this gathering. On the union side, there were members of Solidaires, the CFDT and the CGT. Elected sides, the mayor of Saint-Germain-du-Puy, Marie-Christine Baudouin, the mayor of Bourges Yann Galut, as well as his deputies Magalie Bessard and Yannick Bedin, were present.
“We are at your side,” underlined Yann Galut. “It is time that we change the way we look at rape,” insisted the spokespersons.

Other actions
The international day extends over several days. An awareness day on violence will take place in the reception hall of Jacques-Cœur hospital, Monday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
An office will also be open on Monday, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., at the CIDFF with the bar association. A film debate with screenings of the documentary Incest, Tuesday 26 at 8:15 p.m., and Wednesday 27 of Filles du Soleil at 8:15 p.m., both at the cinema of the Maison de la Culture de Bourges are notably on the program.
