Félix and Alexis Lebrun continue to write their story in world ping-pong. After a successful season, the two brothers qualified for the doubles final of the WTT finals. Performances and a level of play which impress Jean-Philippe Gatien, double Olympic medalist and four times European champion.
After a successful Olympic summer, the Lebrun brothers are continuing their momentum. Félix and Alexis are in the doubles final of the WTT finals (the equivalent of the Masters in tennis), which brings together the 16 best players of the season, after beating another French pair, composed of Florian Bourrassaud and Esteban Dorr. Performances noted by big names in table tennis, such as Jean-Philippe Gatien, double Olympic medalist and four-time European champion. He says he is impressed by the level of play shown by the siblings.
“Even the Asian armada is beginning to greatly fear the effectiveness of the two brothers”
“Every time they are expected, they respond. I was, to be very sincere, very impressed by their level of play and by the way in which they managed to evacuate this Olympic excitement after this double medal, that of Félix in singles and the team one Often, after the Games, we tend to take a little rest, to enjoy and inevitably, it leaves its mark and then it is clear that there, it has almost slipped on both. since Alexis was champion of Europe and that Félix went for victory at the WTT in Montpellier, having a stratospheric level of play.
Jean-Philippe Gatien affirms, amused, that we will have to get used to this kind of performance from the Lebrun brothers in big events, “they are outstanding competitors, with enormous talent and above all still an enormous margin progress”. Despite their elimination in singles, the Lebrun brothers are in the doubles final, a performance which can be explained by their complementarity: “In this particular area of doubles, they are extremely complementary. To have a successful doubles, you need a strong understanding, cohesion. Even the Asian armada is beginning to greatly fear the effectiveness of the two brothers.
The objective now for the Lebruns is to win the biggest titles, a goal from which they no longer hide: “Ping is an integral part of their daily life. There is this alchemy with their long-standing club in Montpellier, which was structured and which made it possible to put in place a system so that the brothers stay in Montpellier and flourish while having an extremely efficient team around them and which has a great ambition: to go for the medals, the big ones securities and to establish itself permanently on the world stage.
