The fire which ravaged a textile factory in the Al Majd industrial zone in Tangier two days ago caused considerable material damage. But the collateral and human damage is also significant, with 300 workers unemployed.
According to certain sources, the judicial authorities are maintaining secrecy regarding the causes of this fire, reports Al Akhbar of the weekend (November 23 and 24). In these risk areas, the law relating to industrial zones (ZI) must be applied. A parliamentary group also questioned the government authorities concerned about strengthening security in Tangier factories.
The deputies spoke of the tragedy that occurred a few years ago in the city, when torrential rainwater submerged the basement of a clandestine textile workshop, causing the death of 28 workers by drowning. The same speakers questioned the measures taken by the services concerned to improve the working conditions of workers in these industrial units. Although many investors have welcomed the government's adoption of bill 102-21 relating to industrial zones, the security situation remains unchanged in the Tangier Al Majd factories.
Which law aims to find solutions to the multiple problems linked to the lack of insurance in factories and the deficit in the management of certain industrial zones, relays Al Akhbar. The Ideal, underline the same sources, is to develop a legal framework to support the development of industrial zones which meets the needs of investors and takes into account the territorial challenges of the region.
