“A big sigh of relief.” Jean-Marc Dejean, the brother of Lilian, the municipal agent killed in September in the center of Grenoble, reacted this Friday, November 22 on BFMTV to the arrest in Portugal of the man suspected of having shot his brother.
This 25-year-old suspect was arrested Thursday in Póvoa de Lanhoso, a town in the Braga region (north), Portuguese police said in a press release. The man, who has a “history of violent crimes (…) took refuge in the north of Portugal after the events”. He was located and arrested with the help of the French police and will be presented to a magistrate with a view to his extradition, according to the same source.
“The whole family is happy to learn that this person is not going (…) to harm other people,” Jean-Marc Dejean said on BFMTV.
Lilian's family will now be able to begin “another stage” in their mourning, added her brother. The latter also wanted to thank the French police officers who investigated in recent months: “they did a huge job in cooperation with the Portuguese police”, he described. “It was long, but we were calm about the fact that (the suspect) was arrested,” assured Jean-Marc Dejean.
