Since 12 p.m., traffic on part of the train lines has gradually resumed in Normandy. Due to the snow, the tracks were affected by falling trees and power outages. Many lines still remain interrupted.
Storm Caetano affected France, and more particularly Normandy, with low temperatures and heavy snowfall.
Much damage was noted on railway infrastructure, particularly due to falling trees. As a result, several train lines were suspended and no trains ran on the entire Nomad Norman network this Friday midday.
“The resumption of traffic will take place very gradually from 12 p.m., this Friday, November 22, and only on part of the lines,” announced the Sncf Nomad Train network on its site and its networks at midday.
Resumption of traffic on four lines
Thus, the lines between Rouen and Dieppe, Le Havre, Bréauté and Fécamp, and Paris and Rouen, have gradually resumed since 12 hours. The line between Rouen and Paris also gradually resumed at 12:30 p.m., while between Rouen and Le Havre, the return of traffic is expected by 4 p.m.
The resumption of traffic on the line from Paris to Caen and to Cherbourg is scheduled for around 5 p.m., and that from Rouen to Elbeuf, for 4 p.m.
On the other hand, the lines from Rouen to Caen, from Paris to Deauville-Trouville, from Rouen to Amiens, from Caen to Rennes, from Paris to Granville and from Caen to Argentan to Le Mans remain, for the moment, interrupted. Their resumption is planned for Saturday November 23.
“We advise you to postpone your trip,” concludes the Sncf Nomad Train network.
If Normandy is no longer on orange snow-ice alert this Friday afternoon, yellow alert remains activated in the region.
