Pierre Palmade was sentenced to 5 years in prison, including two years, for the accident he caused in February 2023 which left several seriously injured.
This Wednesday, November 20, after several hours of deliberation, the Melun criminal court rendered its judgment concerning Pierre Palmade. The comedian was sentenced to five in prison, three of which were suspended for the serious road accident under the influence of drugs. The judges therefore followed the requisitions.
Summoned soon
However, Pierre Palmade will not be incarcerated immediately. In fact, the two years in prison are with “a deferred committal warrant with provisional execution”note RMC.
Justice gave more explanations during the judgment. “You will very soon be summoned by the Bordeaux prosecutor (where he now resides, editor’s note) who will determine the date and the penitentiary establishment in which you will serve two years of detention”explained the president of the court, addressing Pierre Palmade.
Although he should soon be summoned by the public prosecutor's office in the Gironde capital, the comedian will be incarcerated pending a possible second trial, in the event of an appeal against his conviction, specifies BFMTV.
“A recognition of the facts”
On February 10, 2023, at the end of the day, Pierre Palmade had a large quantity of cocaine and 3MMC (a synthetic drug) in his blood when he got behind the wheel. On a road in the south of the department, his Peugeot 3008 collides with a Renault Mégane coming in front.
Inside, a 38-year-old man, his six-year-old son and his 27-year-old sister-in-law, who lost the baby she was expecting after the collision. Their vital prognoses for a time compromised, they still suffer today from serious physical and psychological after-effects. “It is indeed the misconduct of Mr. Pierre Palmade which is the direct cause of all the damage suffered by the victims”recalled the prosecutor.
She also highlighted “favorable elements” : “an acknowledgment of the facts on the part of Mr. Pierre Palmade” who “expressed his remorse very quickly” as well as “scrupulous compliance with the obligations of care”since a relapse in the summer of 2023 and a widely publicized nightclub outing.
“The slightest misstep by Mr. Pierre Palmade will be relayed in the networks and the media”declared Marie-Denise Pichonnier, after having criticized “the outrageous media coverage of these facts”.
