To celebrate 20 years of the European draw, participating gaming operators will offer 100 codes allowing lucky winners to become millionaires.
One hundred Europeans will be millionaires this weekend. The Euromillions, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary, is offering for the occasion a “exceptional print run” this Friday, November 22, announces the FDJ. Each player will receive a special code when paying for their grid, and 100 codes will be drawn at random in Europe to receive one million euros. A concept similar to MyMillion, an FDJ draw which chooses a winner worth one million euros each time the Euromillions jackpot is played.
The usual jackpot is obviously still in play, and reaches 189 million euros, potentially making a 101st millionaire. If this jackpot were won in France, it would make it the 3rd largest win ever won in France, the record being held by a Polynesian player having won 220 million euros in 2021. The highest win, 240 million euros, was won in Austria in 2023. With 129 jackpots won, France is, tied with the United Kingdom, the country with the most lucky people in this drawing game common to nine countries. Since the launch of the game of chance in 2004, 1,400 French players have become millionaires, according to the FDJ.
To win the jackpot, you must check the five correct numbers on the grid, as well as the two stars. In France, a grid costs 2.50 euros. The prize pool increases with each draw, on Tuesdays and Fridays, as long as it has not been won. But it cannot exceed 250 million euros, making the European game much more reasonable than its American counterparts who have sometimes exceeded a billion dollars in winnings.
