“Cold winds” are arriving directly from the Arctic Circle. “They will begin to blow in our country in the next few days, to be precise starting from Wednesday 20 November: these currents will cause a drop in temperatures, but also rain and snowfall as far as the northern plains”, the experts write /. In reality, our peninsula will be crossed by two depression vortices. The first “will convey a moderate disturbance that will move rapidly towards Italy on Wednesday 20 November”, we read on the site. The second, however, “scheduled for Thursday 21 November, will follow a similar trajectory, causing an even more marked worsening of the weather”.
These two episodes will be the causes of a “phase characterized by rain, gale force winds and a progressive drop in temperatures”. The snowfall will affect the North “the border Alps above 800 metres, with the sky everywhere being very cloudy or overcast”. In the afternoon, however, “the Mistral will sweep away part of the cloud cover, while the winds, initially stormy from Libeccio on the Ligurian Sea, will calm down in the evening”. In the Center and in Sardinia, “the decrease in pressure will cause at times stormy winds and storm surges along the Tyrrhenian coasts, with waves that could exceed 5 metres”, the meteorologists wrote. Finally, in the South, “the Libeccio will cause instability in Campania and the Tyrrhenian Calabria, where rain and thunderstorms are expected”.
