A gondola accident in the Val Thorens ski area occurred on Tuesday November 19. The ski lift got stuck on arrival at the station.
The Val Thorens station (Savoie) was the scene of a serious cable car accident on Tuesday, November 19 in the morning. The accident occurred while the cable car was being used by sixteen workers as part of a construction site. The cabin is embedded in the Cime Caron arrival station. Two people are in serious condition, with no vital prognosis. Four other workers were slightly injured.
Significant relief resources have been deployed to care for the victims. The resort's first aid trackers and the high mountain gendarmerie are also present on site. The accident occurred “in very difficult weather conditions at more than 3,000 meters” altitude, around 7:30 a.m., depending on the prefecture. The reasons for the accident are not yet known. A specialist team will travel to the accident site on Wednesday November 20 to begin the investigation.
