“Unnecessary but additional costs”
A fairly ordinary mishap that this traveler obviously experienced badly. To the point of filing a complaint against the company for “emotional and financial pressure”, reports Air Journal and the New York Post.
However, Nicholas Owoyemi's itinerary was rather simple: departure from New York towards Lagos with a stopover planned in Paris. Same route in the same direction.
Problem: once you arrive at Charles-de-Gaulle airport, your connection to Lagos is delayed. Instead of landing at 9:40 p.m., his plane hit the tarmac at more than 1 a.m. which forced him to “spend the night in a nearby hotel for unnecessary but additional costs”.
Bad luck, same situation to reach New York from the Nigerian capital. His plane departing from Paris is delayed by five hours and Air France ends up reorient Nicholas Owoyemi to Delta Air Lines.
“Due to his poor health and heart condition, Nicolas Owoyemi has suffered from sorrow and discomfort and fell ill throughout his stay at Paris airport,” the documents consulted by the New York Post. The sixty-year-old also complained about the return trips made “between the Air France and Delta Air Lines terminals” located a “long distance” from each other.
