Police captain, Quentin Chapuis is ready to do anything to get his hands on the Cat's Eyes. But does the police department he works for really exist?
Last week, TF1 launched with great fanfare Cat's Eyes, a series led by Camille Lou, Constance Labbé and Claire Romain, adapted from the famous manga by Tsukasa Hôjô.
If viewers were impatient to discover the new adventures of Tam, Sylia and Alexia, they were undoubtedly also curious to meet Quentin Chapuis (Mohamed Belkhir), the police captain responsible for investigating the thefts of the works of art committed by the Chamade sisters.
Does the police department Quentin works in really exist?
The answer is yes!
If in the original work Quentin works in a small police station, in the series, he is captain of the BRB, the Banditry Repression Brigade.
The BRB is a French judicial police unit specializing in the fight against organized crime and delinquency. Within this brigade, a section is specifically dedicated to crimes linked to works of art: the art theft repression group. This unit is responsible for dealing with art thefts and has particular expertise in the identification, tracking and recovery of stolen works of art.
For the needs of the series, Michel Catz, the screenwriter of Cat's Eyes, wanted to anchor Quentin in “something realistic and real“. He also explained on this subject during a press point organized last September at the La Rochelle fiction festival: “In the series, he is part of the BRB, a section of the Brocs that really exist. They are responsible for the trafficking of works of art from Paris and its surrounding area. And obviously, we will understand why he chose this service..”.
Unlike the manga in which Quentin has a “silly side“, the screenwriter wanted to make him much more competent and less stupid in his adaptation. It remains to be seen whether this change will allow Quentin to discover that the Chamade sisters are in reality the thieves he is looking for…
