Mbappé, the hard blow

Mbappé, the hard blow

Absent during the last two gatherings, Kylian Mbappé ends the year 2024 with only two goals scored with the team, far behind Randal Kolo Muani.

This is one of the “stats” that will perhaps brighten up family meals at the end of the year: Kylian Mbappé has only scored two goals with the France team in 2024, against Luxembourg in preparation for the Euro (3-0) and during the second match of the European Championship against Poland (1-1) from the penalty spot on June 25. A miserable record for the captain of the Blues, who has already scored 48 goals in 86 caps before celebrating his 26th birthday on December 20, but who was absent from the last two meetings of the calendar year.

Mbappé is well behind Randal Kolo Muani, who finished top scorer in Didier Deschamps' team this year with six goals, but the Real Madrid player is also ahead of “csc”! The Blues benefited from three goals scored by their opponent in 2024. The French journey to the semi-finals of the Euro was marked by a first goal in favor of France scored by the Austrian Max Wober. Then Kolo Muani caused Jan Vertonghen's csc in the 85th minute of the round of 16 against Belgium.

The superb CSC of Digne!

Sunday at San Siro, the Blues won against Italy with a score of 3-1 thanks to a double from Adrien Rabiot, a header from corners by Lucas Digne, and a superb free kick from the same side LEFT. The Aston Villa player sent a powerful strike which hit the bar to give the csc of Guglielmo Vicario, the Azzurri goalkeeper of the evening in place of Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Thanks to this XXL success on a set piece, the vice-world champions finally snatched first place in group A2. Excellent news since France will avoid a quarter-final (round trip next March) against a group winner, therefore Portugal, Germany and Spain, and will be favorite against Croatia, the Down or Denmark.
