Mike De Decker received a match arrow in the 1/8th finals against The Nuke, but ultimately lost 10-9. How differently things could have turned out for the Englishman… However, he came onto the stage on Saturday with only one mission: to crush his Dutch opponent. And Littler did. With an average of 105 and a fantastic level on doubles, he unceremoniously sent The Machine Gun home.

Never has a match in the quarter-finals of the prestigious Grand Slam of Darts been so one-sided. And no one ever pitched better than Littler. He achieved finishes of 167 and 164 along the way, and missed his last dart for a fantastic nine-darter. The match against Wattimena – who won against Dimitri Van den Bergh in the previous round – lasted barely 41 minutes.

“I had a lot of self-confidence for this match,” said The Nuke afterwards. “I just kept thinking: first to five and break, first to five and break… I played well and that makes me happy. All credits to Jermaine, but I was too good this time. If I play like that, no one can beat me. That nine-darter? When you throw that well, you feel it coming every time. If I score a 180, the audience starts to expect it. Hopefully he will come this week.”

Next up for The Nuke? None other than Gary Anderson. The two-time world champion eliminated the very strong Gian van Veen 16-14. It will actually be the very first clash between the two darts champions.

“I was backstage watching his match…,” said the Scot. “I looked at my watch like, wow, this is going to be over soon. Jermaine is playing excellently at the moment, but Luke was on a completely different level. What am I going to have to do to beat him? I might have to give him a hard kick in the shins (laughs). We’ll see! It could end badly for him. When old Gary shows up… With all the 180’s he’s throwing, his average should be even higher. So there are some opportunities there. But Santa Claus doesn’t come every day.”

Littler’s world party has already gone viral on social media:
