After just a few minutes the match in Amsterdam was a side issue. Hungary’s assistant national coach became unwell during the international match against the Netherlands. It gave everyone present a moment of shock, but Adam Szalai was fine. After the restart, the home team had everything under control after two penalties and two goals after the break.
The Netherlands and Hungary had kicked their first balls when great panic broke out on the visitors’ bench. Assistant Adam Szalai requested medical assistance.
The man became unwell, after which all the players formed a circle. After a few anxious minutes, the man’s condition appeared to be stable. The medical staff received loud applause from the Johan Cruijff ArenA.
Hungary decided to continue playing, but it was once again the home fans who were allowed to celebrate again. Weghorst gave away a penalty after a VAR moment, which was postponed due to the shock moment.
A little later, Gakpo would also reward the Netherlands from the penalty spot on his way to a large lead.

The Dutch team could already smell the victory and pressed the accelerator again after the break.
On the hour mark, Dumfries rewarded his country with the first field goal of the evening. Koopmeiners put the big 4-0 figures on the board in the end.
The Netherlands is doing well towards the final rounds of the Nations League. On the final match day with Bosnia and Herzegovina, our northern neighbors will be served a bite-sized morsel to hold on to their second place.
