Like her brother, Rita Carrey had an artistic streak. A Canadian radio personality and singer-songwriter who fronted the Rita Carrey Band, she opened for the rock bands Honeymoon Suite and April Wine. She also shared the stage with Bruce Springsteen, American singer-songwriter and guitarist. This is not the first time that Jim Carrey has lost someone close to him. In 2015, his ex-partner, Irish makeup artist Cathriona White, took her own life a few months after their relationship ended. Shortly before, the young woman had celebrated her 30th birthday.
