Biathlon: resumption of the World Cup in 14 days
The number of sleeps before the official start of the biathlon season is decreasing more and more. This Saturday, while there are many preparation races this weekend, we are exactly 14 days from the start biathlon world cup 2024/2025set for November 30. In two weeks exactly, the best biathletes on the planet will indeed meet at Kontiolahti (Finland), a competition site absent from the global circuit last winter.
As has been tradition for several years, these are mixed events which will launch the hostilities : and simple mixed relay at 1:15 p.m. then a mixed relay from 3:45 p.m. The next day, Sunday December 1, relay by gender are scheduled (1:45 p.m. for men, 5:25 p.m. for women) while short individual (Tuesday December 3, Wednesday December 4), sprints (Friday December 6, Saturday December 7) and mass-starts (Sunday December 8) will take place thereafter.
The end of December will take place at Hochfilzen (Austria), host site for the 2028 Worlds, and Grand-Bornand (Haute-Savoie), where the 2030 Olympic Games are scheduled.
In January, the circuit will move to Oberhof (Germany), Ruhpolding (Germany) then Antholz (Italy) while it will close in March at New Town (Czech Republic), He pecks (Slovenia) and Oslo-Holmenkollen (Norway), location of the finals.
A French selection already almost entirely known
For these launch races of the 2024/2025 season, moreover, we already know – even if nothing is official and will require confirmation in the coming days – that several French people have their tickets in their pockets. On the feminine side, Julia Simon, Lou Jeanmonnot, Jeanne Richard, Justine Braisaz-Bouchet, Gilonne Guigonnat, Sophie Chauveau et Océane Michelon should be, according to an announcement made by Stéphane Bouthiaux in our columns in May.
Same thing regarding Fabien Claude, Eric Perrot, Quentin Fillon-Maillet et Emilien Jacquelin for men.
As Nordic Magazine revealed it a few weeks ago, the last two men's tickets will be up for grabs end of November during the two sprints of l'IBU Cup d'Idre Fjäll (Suede). The lucky ones will join Kontiolahti for the individual events on the program for the second weekthe Blues remaining at four for the relays of the first weekend.
Oscar Lombardot, Antonin Guigonnat et Emilien Claude are already qualified for this IBU Cup while Rémi Broutier, Valentin Lejeune, Théo Guiraud-Poillot or even Damien Livet are currently trying to obtain their qualification during Bessans selections (Savoy).
