Paul vs Tyson LIVE: Boxing updates, UK start time and fight results on undercard after weigh-in slap

Mike Tyson slaps Jake Paul on eve of seismic boxing match

Tonight, Jake Paul and Mike Tyson will meet in one of the biggest and most controversial fights of all time.

Tyson, 58, will face YouTuber Paul, 27, live on Netflix – in the former heavyweight champion’s first professional bout in 19 years. The fight is due to take place in front of 70,000 fans at the AT&T Stadium, home of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys.

And one night before that divisive fight, Tyson slapped Paul in their final face-off. “I didn’t even feel it,” Paul said. “He’s angry. He’s an angry little elf. Mike Tyson, I thought that was a cute slap, buddy, but tomorrow you’re getting knocked the f*** out. I’m f***ing him up. He hits like a b***, it’s personal now, he must die!”

The fight has proven highly controversial, with many fans fearing for Tyson’s health, though others believe the heavyweight icon will roll back the years to beat Paul. Then there are those who think the fight is scripted.

In the evening’s co-main event, Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano clash in a rematch of the biggest women’s bout ever, two years after the Irish legend narrowly outpointed the Puerto Rican great. Whatever may come tonight, follow the latest updates and results below:

Paul vs Tyson LIVE: Undercard updates as Shadasia Green fights Melinda Watpool

Green loads up on some heavy shots, taking the fight to Watpool, but the punches look a little laboured.

Wow. Green realllllly wings an overhand, but Watpool sees it coming from a mile away. Watpool looks like the fresher fighter right now.

Some crafty body shots by Watpool at close range, as we head into round seven.

Paul vs Tyson LIVE: Undercard updates as Shadasia Green fights Melinda Watpool

The trend of the first two rounds continues as we approach the midway point: Watpool is pressing forward, with Green looking to keep a tight defence and spring counter shots at the Canadian.

Each woman is having moments of success, but Green looks the better of the two so far.

Now Watpool has a moment, though, cornering Green and landing a cross and hook at close range! Green definitely felt those.

Some clinching follows, with Green landing a couple of punches before the break. Four rounds completed, out of 10.

Paul vs Tyson LIVE: Undercard updates as Shadasia Green fights Melinda Watpool

Green and Watpool are largely sticking to their jabs so far, but just as I type that, Green times a slick cross to tag Watpool. And another. A third! Green is finding her rhythm, using that shot nicely on the counter.

Watpool backs Green up to the ropes and lands a right straight of her own, spearing it onto Green’s chin. Green ties up her opponent in response.

Some more wrestling ensues. Two rounds in the can.

Paul vs Tyson LIVE: AT&T Stadium stupefies

I have to say, I’m rarely in awe of sports venues, but the AT&T Stadium is something else. There are big screens over the ring, then even bigger screens above that, and they are gigantic.

Also, there are already a lot of fans in the stadium compared to most boxing events. 70,000 are expected tonight, with the Texas sports gate record (for money generated by ticket sales) having been shattered here. It is almost double the previous record ($17.8m compared to $9m from Canelo vs Saunders).

Paul vs Tyson LIVE: Undercard updates as Bahdi avoids big upset against Casamonica

This could be a big upset, Casamonica has shuffled around the ring and produced some smart, crisp boxing with Bahdi a little confused.

The scorer for Netflix tonight, Sean Wheelock, has leaned towards the Italian throughout this contest.

The judges give Bahdi a MD, which seems generous: 95-95, 96-93 and 98-92 to the Canadian.

“There’s no way that was the fight we watched,” comes the verdict from the Netflix broadcast. That last scorecard is a shocker, Casamonica had more volume and pressure. Bahdi outlanded Casamonica barely: 124-113, with both fighters connecting on 19 percent of their punches.

Paul vs Tyson LIVE: Undercard updates as Bahdi battles Casamonica

Casamonica’s corner is lively, the Italian is jabbing nicely and in this fight.

Bahdi loading up on the uppercut, too, this one just caught fire in the seventh.

The Italian’s footwork, in this 20×20 ring, is helping him pinch the round. There’s a clear plan here from the Italian, who is picking his moment to launch heavy, winging rights.

Paul vs Tyson: Son of ‘Iron Mike’ explains controversial slap at weigh-in

Amir Tyson, a broadcaster and the son of Mike Tyson, has explained why his father exploded at the weigh-in, planting a crisp slap on the cheek of Jake Paul.

“He intentionally stepped on his toe,” Amir Tyson explained. “Jake has been disrespectful, he’s trying to let him know, this is serious and he’s not playing games.”

Paul vs Tyson: Undercard updates as Carrington and Coolwell kick off event

We are underway in Arlington, Texas, we have a couple of preliminaries before we switch to the main broadcast at 1am GMT.

It’s been a cracker to kick things off at Jerry World, Bruce Carrington has dropped Dana Coolwell in the fourth round and is on top so far. We’ll bring you all the results tonight and major incidents from the undercard, with so many afforded the biggest stage of their careers.

Coolwell bombarded by a relentless Carrington assault, backed into the corner, he ships more damage, including a flush right and the knee drops for another count in the eighth. Coolwell survives and this one goes to the judges after a eight fiery stanzas. Carrington claims a dominant decision, 80-70 on all three scorecards, and that puts the featherweight division on notice.

On a side note: Roy Jones Jr is on co-commentary duty tonight, his viewpoint on Tyson will be especially interesting given their past.
