Zurich – Davos 2:3 n.V.

The ZSC Lions lost the top game in Zurich against HC Davos 2:3 in extra time. Michael Fora scored the winning goal in overtime with 0.8 seconds left. ZSC last lost a home game against Kloten on January 20th, 3-1, after which Zürcher SC strung together 25 wins in a row against their own team. The Davos team won for the tenth time in the last eleven rounds thanks to Fora’s late winning goal.

Three teams are now tied for the lead: The ZSC Lions, HC Davos and Lausanne HC all total 40 points. If the ZSC Lions hadn’t been able to equalize against Davos in the 56th minute through Jesper Frödén and save his team a point, then HC Davos would have had it again for the first time since January 4, 2015 and for the first time in almost 500 rounds (488). Taken top of the table in the National League.

Zug – Lausanne 6:2

Zug managed to react strongly to the embarrassing performance against Bern on Wednesday (1:6). Gregory Hofmann and Fredrik Olofsson each contributed two goals to the 6-2 home win against Lausanne, who traveled to central Switzerland as leaders. It was Olofsson’s first two goals this season. The hosts decided the middle third 4-1 in their favor with the kind help of Lausanne goalie Antoine Keller, who was substituted after 40 minutes. The EVZ had lost all of the previous four duels against the Vaudois team.

Fribourg-Bern 5:4 n. p.

In Freiburg, Gottéron and the Bern Ice Skating Club created a spectacle – from the very first second. After 23 seconds the game was already 1:1. It’s been 32 years since two goals were scored even faster (at Ambri – Zug 2-0 after 22 seconds). Jakob Lilja (who came from Ambri for DiDomenico) scored his first goal for Gottéron to make it 1-1. That was also strange, because the puck was lying free in front of the goal for Lilja, while Bern’s goalie Adam Reideborn was behind the goal. In the end, Freiburg won 5:4 after a penalty shootout. No shooter was successful at Bern, Jacob de la Rose and Christoph Bertschy scored for Gottéron. Bern has lost eight of nine overtime games this season.

Lugano – Biel 6:3

Because of the traffic jam on the Gotthard, Biel arrived in Lugano late; the game started with a slight delay. The short preparation did not prove to be a handicap for the Zealanders: Biel led 3-2 until the 29th minute after two goals from Toni Rajala. Jesper Peltonen also achieved the decisive turnaround from 2:3 to 4:3 with a brace (29th and 36th minutes).

Langnau – Rapperswil-Jona 4:5 n. V.

The SCL Tigers suffered their next defeat 4:5 against the Lakers in a game with lots of lead changes. At least the Langnauers managed to score again: after a 0:4 against Zug, a 0:3 in Davos and a 0:2 in Ajoie, they scored 1-0 after 201 minutes and 49 seconds through Michal Kristof. What followed was bitter: Although the Tigers were then able to play a power play and take a penalty, four minutes after the 1-0 lead they were behind for the first time, 1-2. Pontus Aberg scored the winning goal for the Lakers after 62:20 minutes.
