Despite the serious injuries affecting their squad, Real Madrid, facing unexpected challenges following the renovation of the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, is ready to part ways with four players. Among these, two are French internationals who have had substantial playing time.
Real Madrid boasts an excellent strength. What is it? The ability to perform exceptionally well with a squad less extensive than its main European rivals. Thus, the Spanish club maximizes the potential of its players and offers a relatively weak rotation, which could explain the numerous and severe injuries plaguing the squad in recent seasons. However, this does not seem to worry Florentino Pérez, who is nonetheless willing to trim the squad in the coming months for reasons other than sporting ones.
Indeed, Relevo has informed us that the renovation of the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium has not only had positive outcomes. Soundproofing issues have been noted, prompting the Madrid City Council to prohibit concerts until further notice. This is a significant blow for the management of the white house, who were counting on such events to generate substantial revenue. A shortfall that the club would thus like to compensate through player sales.

Tchouaméni: The Most Marketable Asset
This Wednesday, the specialized media revealed that four players will not be retained if interesting offers come in. The first one, and no surprise here, is Aurélien Tchouaméni (24). Signed for €80 million from Monaco in summer 2022, the French midfielder has failed to impress and has delivered several subpar performances in recent weeks. Madrid’s management believes it is better to find him a new destination while his value remains high and he still has four and a half years left on his contract. Liverpool, who were interested before his signing in Spain, remains keen on his acquisition.

Another French player potentially on the move is Ferland Mendy (29). The left-back, who was signed for €48 million from Olympique Lyonnais four and a half years ago, will see his contract expire next June. While his superiors discuss with him about a possible extension, they are also not opposed to his departure to recoup a few million euros. However, this attempt seems likely to fail as the French international, a starter under Carlo Ancelotti, has no real incentive to leave in the upcoming transfer window or rush his short- or medium-term future.
The Inevitable Sale of Brahim Diaz?
In contrast, the situation is quite different for Dani Ceballos (28). Since arriving in the Spanish capital in 2017, the Betis-trained midfielder has never held a starting role. An eternal substitute— a role that seems to suit him perfectly— he spent a two-year loan at Arsenal between 2019 and 2021 and is among the bankable players who could attract interest. With a contract extended in June 2023 until June 2027, Real’s leeway is much broader, hoping to make a small profit of several million euros from his sale.

Lastly, Brahim Diaz (25) is also on this list. He too has a commitment lasting another three and a half years. However, unlike the latter, the Moroccan offensive midfielder finds it difficult to accept his role as a luxury substitute. While he certainly hoped to become a key player for the Merengues, the fierce competition in the attacking sector may push him towards exile for good. The player, who has passed through AC Milan and is valued between €40 and €50 million, is unlikely to lack suitors. This winter or next summer.
