Nearly 80 years after his birth, Lucky Luke, star of a fantasized Wild West, is still very popular with readers. He confronts the evils of the time against the Daltons in a new comic book and will soon conquer the small screen.
At almost 80 years old, Lucky Luke still has some great reflexes. Always faster than his shadow, the cowboy faces the Daltons in a new comic book, before the upcoming release of a TV series. Symbol of a dreamed America, he knew how to adapt to his times, and ventured into the art market.
In 2024, Lucky Luke is more cult than ever. With his white hat, he is recognizable at a glance. The character was born in 1946, designed according to the archetype of the fearless and blameless hero by the cartoonist Morris for post-war children. “At that time, the hero of a comic strip had to be completely noble and serve as a model”the artist explained in an old interview.
Its outfit has never changed, except for one detail: the cigarette, replaced in the 1980s by a straw. Achdé has taken up the torch for 23 years with the same demands. But the scenarios adapt to the times. In the last album, A cowboy under pressurethere is even talk of strike and social conflict.
