This expression of thanks comes after national coach Walid Regragui explained Ziyech’s absence for purely sporting reasons, namely his lack of playing time at his club. “I have been in contact with Hakim. I am surprised that there is so much fuss about the selection. Hakim needs to get back into shape and work hard at his club. If he reaches his best level again, he will come back. The team has changed and the competition is high. You have to get playing time to be selected for the national team,” the coach explained during a press conference.
