Arsenal are hopeful injured pair Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka will be available for their Premier League match against Nottingham Forest next Saturday.

During Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea, Rice, playing with a broken toe, was withdrawn in the 71st minute before Saka was taken off after receiving treatment on a leg injury 10 minutes later.

Both were initially in England interim head coach Lee Carsley’s squad for this week’s Nations League matches against Greece and Republic of Ireland.

Though days later they withdrew from the squad, with Rice having required painkillers to play against Chelsea.

The pair started rehab sessions at Arsenal’s London Colney earlier this week, with Rice and Saka likely to be fit enough to face Nottingham Forest.

Saka is further on in his recovery than Rice.

It follows the news yesterday that Ben White is expected to be out for at least six weeks after undergoing minor surgery on a knee issue.

The Gunners have only just welcomed back captain Martin Odegaard after two months out with an ankle injury, as Mikel Arteta recently bemoaned his side’s bad luck with injuries.

Defenders Riccardo Calafiori and Takehiro Tomiyasu are expected to return after the international break.
