Waiting to play against Medvedev tonight, Sinner is already sure of reaching the semi-final thanks to De Minaur, who won a set with Fritz. The American then achieved a comeback success and is still in the running
A roar atInalpi Arena in Turineven without it being there Jannik Sinner in the field. Spectators who had tickets in hand for the daytime session, with the match tra Taylor Fritz is Alex De Minaurthey had clear calculations in their heads: the victory of a set (the first, in this case) by De Minaur arithmetically opened the doors to the semi-finals of the Atp Finals to the world number 1, playing tonight at 8.30pm against Daniil Medvedev.
Sinner already qualified in the semifinals of the ATP Finals
In the end, then, the match (in which both of them still shone with points won with the first serve, 84%) brought her home the American, capable of winning 5-7 6-4 6-3 in a comeback in two hours and 9'keeping themselves in the running for qualification to the semi-final. Everything will depend on tonight's match, with three scenarios. If Sinner beats Medvedev by any score, Jannik will finish in first place with three wins out of three (and will therefore face the second in the other group) and Fritz in second. If Medvedev were to prank the Italian instead, two paths would open up: in the event of success in two sets, Daniil would finish first with Jannik second, but if the match were to be decided in the third set in favor of the Russian it would still be the American to celebrate the passage of the round, with Sinner always first.
Only a success for Fritz in two sets against De Minaur would have kept Jannik still in suspense, but he will be able to take to the court already confident of doing so on Saturday too. It remains to be seen only whether he will do so as first or second in the group that bears the name of Ilie Nastase.
