On France 2, the deputy for Somme denounced “quasi-fanatical” requisitions and refused to discuss Jordan Bardella's appeal application.
“Irrational”, “quasi-fanatics”, “extremists”, “excessive”… Guest on France 2, Jean-Philippe Tanguy doubled down on his qualifiers to denounce the prosecution's requisitions in the affair of the FN's European parliamentary assistants. Thursday evening, prosecutors demanded two years in prison, a 300,000 euro fine and, above all, five years of ineligibility for Marine Le Pen.
“Requisitions which have no other meaning than political censorship. They only aim to deprive the French of expression by claiming to eliminate Marine Le Pen from political life.denounced the deputy for the Somme. Present in court, Jean-Philippe Tanguy found the leader of the National Rally (RN) “stoic”, “worthy” et “courageous” in this “very difficult moment for democracy”. “She is the target of the system because she embodies a vote of hope and rupture”he believes.
The delegated president of the RN group in the National Assembly notably pointed out a “totally empty file after ten years of procedure”. He also returned to the course of the trial, expressing indignation at the interrogation “systematically dependent” defendants. For Jean-Philippe Tanguy, prosecutors sought “a little beast that didn’t exist”.
Jordan Bardella’s appeal application, a “meaningless perspective”
The deputy for Somme refutes any questioning of the work of justice. “I will respect justice, he said. But respecting it does not mean submitting to requisitions which are not a condemnation.” “We are not going to give in to this attempt to smear the prosecutors”he said, while on BFMTV, the vice-president of the RN, Sébastien Chenu, spoke of a “prosecutor at the service of a political mission”. “In what country would we live in which the main woman politician, the most popular woman politician in the polls, Marine Le Pen, (…) would be prevented from running”he added.
While Marine Le Pen could be prevented from running in the 2027 presidential election, Jean-Philippe Tanguy refused to fall into the “trap” of these requisitions. He thus brushed aside Jordan Bardella's application for appeal. “This perspective makes no sense”he estimated, affirming that “Marine Le Pen remains entirely devoted to the cause of the French”. Now the ball is in the judges' court. “They can still choose truth and courage”hopes Jean-Philippe Tanguy, who recalls that “nothing is decided in advance”.
