King Charles looked dapper at the Gladiator II premiere this evening while Queen Camilla stayed at home.

The monarch joined actors like Paul Mescal and Denzel Washington, alongside director Ridley Scott, at Leicester Square.

Although His Majesty was supposed to be joined by his wife Queen Camilla, she skipped the event as she continues to recover from a chest infection.

At the event, Charles looked dapper in a black bow tie, white shirt and black jacket as he stood with the likes of Mescal, Washington and Pedro Pascal.

Earlier in the day, Charles and Camilla hosted a reception to mark the centenary of the Film and charity.

King Charles has been the patron of the charity since 2022, following the death of his mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II.

Earlier this evening, Camilla told the film’s director Sir Ridley Scott: “I am so sorry I’m not coming tonight.

“I’d be coughing throughout it.”

The director clasped her hands and told her not to worry at all.

The Queen discreetly coughed several times during her shortened appearance at the reception and gratefully sipped on a glass of water.

She said she felt “absolutely rotten” last week but was definitely “on the mend”.

The King met the stars of Gladiator II tonight and asked Hollywood legend Denzel Washington: “Are you playing someone terrible?”

The actor replied: “I’m a lovely man, you’ll see.”

The King added: “You’ve been in so many films, fantastic.”

Charles, 75, walked the red carpet outside the Odeon Luxe cinema in Leicester Square without Queen Camilla, who stayed at home.

The King warmly shook hands with Sir Ridley, who appeared to say they would talk after the movie.
