The Minister of the Interior was the guest of BFMTV on the eve of the match between France and Israel and at the police measures put in place to prevent anti-Semitic attacks.
“Exceptional measures for an exceptional match”. Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau is the guest of BFMTV this Wednesday evening, the day before the France-Israel match which will be held under high tension at the Stade de France.
“Maintaining (the match, Editor's note) was symbolic, it was saying that France does not back down, France does not submit to the injunctions of anti-Semites and sowers of hatred”, declared the tenant of Beauvau, after the incidents that occurred last week in Amsterdam.
Asked about the safety of French Jews of Jewish faith in Paris and Israeli supporters present for tomorrow evening's match, Bruno Retailleau assured that “they will be safe, I invite them to come to the match for those who want to attend this meeting.”
“It is important that all fans can enter the stadium safely and then return home in complete safety,” the minister continued on BFMTV.
Closure of businesses and double security perimeter
The member of the government also detailed the security measures put in place to secure the enclosure and surroundings of the Stade de France.
“The businesses will close from 3:45 p.m., we will have a double security perimeter, a first for searches and pat-downs, a second to allow the federation staff to carry out concordance checks between the identity document and the nominative ticket and a device in depth,” he declared.
In a telegram dated yesterday and intended for the prefects that BFMTV was able to consult, the Minister of the Interior notably asked to organize in-depth flow control operations in order to detect and control any suspicious person in SNCF stations and road, public transport, tolls.
“This meeting appears particularly sensitive in the current national and international context and imposes a rigorous system,” the minister wrote to the prefects.
