Guest in “L’Heure des pros” on CNews, the filmmaker somewhat shocked the presenter and his columnists with some of his comments.
Claude Lelouch doesn't hold his tongue in his pocket and says what he thinks with great frankness. He was true to himself in the show “L’Heure des pros” presented by Pascal Praud on CNews in which he was a guest this Wednesday, November 13, 2024.
The 87-year-old filmmaker came to present his 51st film, called Eventually and worn, in particular, by Kad Merad, but also his work Cinema is better than life (Les Presses de la Cité). On set, he spoke about his career and explained what inspires him for his feature films. “You know, I’m a conciergehe confided. Everything interests me, everything. I love everything because life is an extraordinary game. We did not invent such a wonderful, diabolical game.”

Just after, Pascal Praud then relaunched it on women. “The other day you said, it surprised me, “We can change women when we find something better.” But what's better than a woman you love? »the journalist asked. “When I say that we are faithful until we find something better, it’s true whether it’s for a car, a woman, a fridge, anything…”replied the director, causing the commentators on set to react as well as Pascal Praud himself.
Claude Lelouch continued: “It pulls us up, it forces us to be better and better, it forces us to improve. You can love a woman all your life if you break records every day, if you impress her every day. What is love? We go through admiration. Me, today, I am with Valérie Perrin, I am full of admiration for this woman and this admiration is love. »

Later, Pascal Praud spoke to him again about his relationship with women in his personal life. “When, in a romantic relationship, to sometimes justify infidelity, you say, “I am a reporter of life and I went elsewhere to see what is happening.” Saying that to your wife in the evening is not easy…”said the host. “You know, married women should thank mistresses because there are impressive returns. Very often, when we go somewhere else, we are happy to come home”retorted Claude Lelouch with a smile, making Éric Naulleau burst out laughing but also embarrassing part of the audience.
“We're going to have big problems…”
“We're going to have big problems…”laughed Gauthier Le Bret. Pascal Praud was in his opinion: “I have a young woman in my headset. Already comparing women and fridges, I had the right to a first remark…”he began. “You didn’t understand what I said…”defended Claude Lelouch. “Explain to us”added Sarah Saldmann. “We are constantly improving the world (…). But it's true that beauty has absolutely incredible virtues and our eyes can't help but wander around and see things. You have to live with all that”replied the director.
“As long as it's the eyes that wander (…) I thought I understood that infidelity was a way of exploring and that it was almost good…”continued Sarah Saldmann. “When we engage in infidelity it is because at some point we have a crush, we have doubts and we are no longer sure of ourselves”said the filmmaker again.
