If the government plans to lower the share of reimbursement for medical consultations by Social Security from 70 to 60%, Geneviève Darrieussecq said she was “still working to find different solutions”.
“The discussion is not closed” on the government's plan to reduce reimbursement of medical consultations by Health Insurance to 60%, Health Minister Geneviève Darrieussecq declared this Wednesday morning on Franceinfo.
“We have 5 billion savings to make” in the Social Security budget for 2025, currently under discussion in Parliament, she said.

“We are still working”
In this context, “we considered transferring a billion euros” from Health Insurance to complementary health insurance, by reducing the share of the former in the reimbursement of medical consultations to 60%, compared to 70% today, and by increasing the share of seconds.
But “we are still working to find different solutions,” admitted Geneviève Darrieussecq.
The reduction in reimbursement “may not be in the budget,” or “may not be 10%,” she said. “This work is in progress, and that is the interest of the parliamentary discussion,” she added. The National Assembly failed to decide within the allotted time frame on this 2025 budget and the text is now in the Senate, which will examine it next week in plenary session.
