– Charles III and Prince William receive money from public bodies.
Of the financial secrets of the British monarchy, involving Charles III and Prince William revealed. For almost six months, three media outlets (the “Sunday Times”, the “Daily Mirror” and the Channel 4 investigative show “Dispatches”) carried out a joint investigation, relays Paris Match. The duchies of Lancaster and Cornwall are in particular in the viewfinder. The first belongs to Charles III, the second to William. Both territories are governed by an ancient feudal law. The monarch and his son are owners. They thus touch many rents. More the tax system tends to the extreme as for freight boats which must pay a small fee each time they cross a river.
For example, town halls in the Duchy of Lancaster must pay the monarch for the right to dig graves in cemeteries. Another example: the army must pay rent to William to be able to train on land in the Duchy of Cornwall. The problem comes from the money received by the royal family.
“The broke duke”: will King Charles III cut off funds from his brother, Prince Andrew?
A scandal in Great Britain
These are public servicesnotably the National Health Service (NHS), which pays. However, the United Kingdom's public health system is currently in crisis. The 'Duchy Files' reveal that the NHS would pay rent of almost a million euros to the king each year. Several associations sponsored by active members of the Windsors also donate part of what they raise to the two members of the royal family as rent. A scandal across the Channel, because Charles and William do not pay taxes on the profits of their “companies”.
