DECRYPTION – The Minister of the Armed Forces Sébastien Lecornu kicked off on Tuesday the construction of the new headquarters of the foreign intelligence service, which will be located on the Fort Neuf de Vincennes site.
The barracks bear the names of old battles: Artois, La Marne, Iena, Albuhera… They will be preserved, just like the parade ground in the heart of Fort Neuf de Vincennes and the bastioned enclosure which surrounds the area, located at the outskirts of Paris. The rest, the buildings from the 1980s with gray facades, will be demolished to make way, from 2030, for the infrastructure of the new headquarters of the DGSE, French foreign intelligence. More functional, adapted to the technical needs of a modern service, the new site will be able to accommodate 6,000 agents.
It will include gardens protected from exterior views. 600 trees will be planted. « They say that agents are creative and need space to roam »explains one of the architects of the project – entrusted to the Vinci group – making the military audience, who came to visit the site for the first time, smile.
