Former French international Wissam Ben Yedder was sentenced to two years in prison on Tuesday, November 12, for drunken sexual assault on the evening of September 6. The prosecutor's office had requested a year in prison as well as 18 months of suspended sentence at the beginning of October, but the Nice criminal court did not follow all of the requisitions.

Obligation of care and compensation

Without a club since his departure from AS Monaco last June, the 34-year-old footballer, now registered with the perpetrators of sexual assault and who was not present for the deliberation, also saw his license suspended for six months . In addition to a €5,000 fine, he also received an obligation to provide care and compensation to the victim, a 23-year-old young woman.

In 2023, Wissam Ben Yedder was sentenced in Seville (Spain) to six months in prison for tax evasion, and proceedings also pit him against his former agent Meïssa Ndiaye. Arriving in Monaco in 2019, he scored 118 goals in 201 matches for the Principality club, of which he was captain for a long time.
