Monday Morning Report
Happy Veterans Day! This is the day we honor all who have served our nation AND we share it in our house with my younger son’s 15th birthday. He was raised to understand how special this is… and the numbers 11/11 are powerful!
The day’s celebrations will start with wet ground thanks to the welcome rain yesterday and last night. Showers this morning will end, and the sun will help bring a mild afternoon.
Winds will be gusty today, quickly drying out the ground. Then, on Tuesday, the wind will increase from the North, ushering in the next air mass that will be chilly for the middle of the week…, with temperatures running 5 to 10 degrees below average for a change.
The rain we received was helpful, but not a lot. We stopped counting dry days on the 39th day since October 2nd. I counted 0.33 inches at Baltimore’s BWI. Most of our region got less than 1/2 inch, with some higher pockets on Maryland’s Eastern Shore and in the mountainous areas west and north.
The next rain chance we have is on Thursday.

Morning Surface Weather
The system that brought overnight rain is now pushing a cold front through our area this morning. This front will bring the last showers to the east.
A dry trend will include a westerly wind AND sunshine during the day. The next cold front will be dry but will arrive with a strong, gusty wind shift along with colder air for Tuesday through Thursday.

RESTATING MY MESSAGE ABOUT DYSLEXIA
I am aware there are some spelling and grammar typos and occasional other glitches. I take responsibility for my mistakes and even the computer glitches I may miss. I have made a few public statements over the years, but if you are new here, you may have missed it: I have dyslexia and found out during my second year at Cornell University. It didn’t stop me from getting my meteorology degree and being the first to get the AMS CBM in the Baltimore/Washington region.
One of my professors told me that I had made it that far without knowing and to not let it be a crutch going forward. That was Mark Wysocki, and he was absolutely correct! I do miss my mistakes in my own proofreading. The autocorrect spell check on my computer sometimes does an injustice to make it worse. I also can make mistakes in forecasting. No one is perfect at predicting the future. All of the maps and information are accurate. The ‘wordy’ stuff can get sticky.
There has been no editor who can check my work while writing and to have it ready to send out in a newsworthy timeline. Barbara Werner is a member of the web team that helps me maintain this site. She has taken it upon herself to edit typos when she is available. That could be AFTER you read this. I accept this and perhaps proves what you read is really from me… It’s part of my charm. #FITF
