(Adnkronos) – Roma sacked coach Ivan Juric after the home defeat against Bologna, who went down 3-2 at the Stadio Olimpico on the 12th matchday of Serie A.

“We want to thank Ivan Juric for his hard work over the last few weeks. He has handled a difficult environment with the utmost professionalism, and for this we are grateful. We wish him all the best for his future. The search for a new head of technical flight has already begun and will be announced in the next few days”, the note from Roma.

“We immediately wanted to issue an official statement, now we will think calmly to make the best decisions. I thank Juric, who arrived in a difficult situation. He gave his best from day one and Roma thanks him. Now we will make the best decision in the interest of the club”, says Roma sporting director Florent Ghisolfi, speaking to Dazn.

“Juric did his best and was professional right from the start, he arrived in a difficult situation. The moment is complicated and we must assume our responsibilities. We offer our apologies to the fans, who are suffering a lot. We are all responsible for this situation – adds the Giallorossi sporting director – The Friedkin goal is the same as the fans, which is to win. I don't like the word transition as we have done so far and we must perform immediately. Now we must face this situation as best we can.”

Was it wrong to send De Rossi away? “At this moment all that remains is to assume our responsibilities. We must try to get out of this situation”, concludes Ghisolfi.

Juric, signed in September after the dismissal of Daniele De Rossi, was sacked after the fourth defeat in the last 5 matchdays. Roma, totally in disarray in the championship, went down amid public protest: they remained at 13 and sank into the lower-middle part of the table, 4 points from the relegation zone.

Bologna broke the deadlock in the 25th minute with Castro, Roma reacted in the 63rd minute with El Shaarawy but immediately fell behind again. Orsolini (66') brings the guests back ahead and Karlsson (77') completes the hat-trick for the Italian team. El Shaarawy closes the gap in the 82nd minute but doesn't avoid the knockout which risks bringing the curtain down on Juric's adventure in the capital.

Juric chooses Dovbyk at the center of the attack, with Soulé and Pisilli in support. Cristante and Koné in midfield, Celik and El Shaarawy on the wings. Dybala and Pellegrini out of play. On the other side, Italiano opts for Castro and Odgaard up front, with Orsolini and Ndoye on the external lanes.

Very balanced race and blocked at the start. In the first 20' there was no danger, then in the 21st minute Bologna was dangerous with an initiative on the right by Orsolini but on the cross shot, Ndoye in splits didn't arrive in time for the deflection and hurt himself by colliding with the post and was replaced. In the 25th minute Bologna passes: on Orsolini's corner, pinball in the area, the last deviation from a few steps from the goal is by Castro for the 1-0 with the Giallorossi defense dazed.

Roma tries to react but is also unlucky. In the 30th minute Koné goes away on the left and puts it in the centre, Soulé follows the action and when he falls he finishes with his left foot, sending the ball onto the crossbar. Roma continues to push and tries first with Mancini's header and then with Soulé without luck. A barrage of whistles from the Olimpico at the end of the first half.

At the beginning of the second half with Roma unable to make themselves dangerous, Juric tries with the second striker, inserting Shomurodov for Soulé. In the 60th minute El Shaarawy tries with a free kick but it goes just over the crossbar. The technician then tries the Dahl and Baldanzi card. In the 63rd minute El Shaarawy found the right header from Mancini's cross to make it 1-1. But the tie doesn't last long. In the 66th minute, on the counterattack, Orsolini beats Svilar with a deflection from Angelino to make it 1-2 for the rossoblù.

Roma tried to react and in the 70th minute Ndicka tried firsthand but Skorupsky saved himself in two halves. In the 72nd minute Bologna scores the third goal with Dallinga but VAR cancels it due to a handball. However, the rossoblù trio arrived shortly after. In the 77th minute Karlsson runs away to the left and beats Svilar to make it 1-3. Roma took a leap in the 82nd minute with El Shaarawy, one of the few not to give up, finding the top corner for his personal brace to make it 2-3. Late opportunity for Roma but Dovbyk doesn't find the ball on Shomurodov's serve. Boos roar for yet another knockout of the season.
