By the start of next week, temperatures are expected to drop considerably causing some snowfall and showers across most of the country.
We'll have to take out the coats next week. From this Monday, November 11, the day commemorating the end of the First World War, the weather will be busy with showers over the majority of the territory and increasingly cooler temperatures.
A cold drop from the north will cause rain and some gusts of wind. The mistral and the tramontane will also make their return to the south-east, indicates the French Observatory of tornadoes and storms, Keraunos.
Drop in temperatures at the start of the week
On Monday, the weather will be gray over two thirds of the north with some scattered drizzle. Beware of fog and mists greatly reducing visibility in the southwest.
The surroundings of the Pyrenees and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes will maintain cloudy skies, while some clearings will be expected between Poitou, Limousin and the Garonne valley, indicates Météo France.
To find the sun again, you will have to be near the Mediterranean, despite the wind which will blow quite strongly. Everywhere else, grayness will prevail with a few drops from Burgundy to Alsace.
In terms of temperatures, the minimums will be between 10 to 15°C on the Mediterranean shores, between 8 to 12°C in the South-West, between 4 to 8°C in the rest of the country with a risk of small frosts in the valleys. of the Alps, Jura and Vosges.
In the afternoon, except on the Mediterranean edge where the maximums reach 17 to 21°C, it will be a little cooler with 9 to 12°C in the North-East and the Center-East, 12 to 15°C in the North-West, 14 to 17°C in the South-West.
A generally busy time
From Tuesday, rain and showers will reach three quarters of the country with the arrival of the cold drop coming down from Germany. In the Mediterranean, storms will strengthen in Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur and Corsica.
The rest of the week, the weather will remain generally cloudy with possible precipitation in Roussillon and the far south. Rain and thunderstorms could appear, particularly in the southeast, in the middle of the week.
Snow expected in the mountains
As the holidays approach, the mountains will slowly begin to take on their white coats. Some snowfall at medium altitude is expected in the mountains.
“Under the influence of the cold drop, fairly cold air will reach eastern France, bringing some snowfall,” indicates the Weather Channel.
From the Vosges to the center-east, snow will be visible from 1,000 m altitude, compared to 1,200 to 1,300 m when arriving in the Pyrenees. From the Jura to the Northern Alps and the northern slopes of Auvergne, 10 to 15 cm of fresh snow could fall at 1,500 m altitude.
This snowy episode will, however, be brief, as a mild spell seems to be on the horizon for the weekend of November 16. This period corresponds to when temperatures cool down during the cold season.
