We have made it through the first fifteen minutes of action at Everbank Stadium, and your Minnesota Vikings trail the Jacksonville Jaguars by a score of 7-3.
The Jaguars got the football first in this one after the Vikings won the coin toss and chose to defer to the second half, with Mac Jones leading his team onto the field in place of the injured Trevor Lawrence. The Jaguars quickly went three-and-out on their first possession and the punt went through the end zone for a touchback.
The Vikings moved the ball downfield but the drive ultimately stalled and new kicker Parker Romo connected on his first NFL field goal attempt, a 45-yarder that gave the Vikings a 3-0 lead midway through the first quarter.
The Jaguars then moved down the field surprisingly (and disappointingly) easily, concluding the drive with a 1-yard sneak from Jones to make it 7-3 with a little under four minutes left in the quarter.
Minnesota started the next drive off with a long pass to. . .Josh Oliver? It went for 28 yards into Jacksonville territory and the Vikings were on the move. However, that move stopped when a pass from Sam Darnold went off of the hands of Justin Jefferson into the hands of Foye Oluokun for a turnover at around the Jacksonville 20-yard line.
Fortunately, the Jaguars went three-and-out after the turnover and punted it back to Minnesota. As we move to the second quarter of play, the Vikings are looking at a 2nd-and-3 from their own 23-yard line.
Fifteen minutes of play in the books, folks, and the Vikings trail the Jaguars by a score of 7-3. Come on in and join us for the second quarter of play!
