The Aiglons snatched a draw at home, this Sunday, November 10, 2024, against Lille (2-2) for the 11th day of Ligue 1.
After a draw each on the European scene, Nice ahead of Twente (2-2) in the Europa League after an incongruous performance and Lille against Juventus (1-1) after returning another very good image in the Champions League , the Nice club and LOSC met this Sunday as part of the 11th day of Ligue 1. A meeting which saw neither team pocket the three points (2-2). Lille had control of the match from the start. Jonathan David was unable to score a ball which he headed into the area (3') but Matias Fernandez-Pardo, surprise of the day at kick-off, allowed the northern club to take the lead after the first quarter of an hour. He overtook Youssouf Ndayishimiye on the left side with lightning acceleration. The Lille summer recruit approached the goal and Marcin Bulka could only touch his right-footed shot which ended up in the net. A first goal in his new colors to properly mark his first start in Ligue 1.
Nice in fits and starts
The Niçois, then harmless, were then more dangerous like a curling shot from Jérémie Boga, captured by the new French international Lucas Chevalier (31'). It was then Ali Abdi who tried to sound a revolt, without managing to save his header (34'). The first act logically ended with a one-goal advantage for Lille who returned to their locker room with 70% possession. Franck Haise's team started the second half as they finished the first, dominating their opponent. Tanguy Ndombélé, arriving launched into the area, was unable to send his header into the goal (52') unlike the incoming Sofiane Diop (56'). The latter took a cross from Jonathan Clauss into the area, offset by Tanguy Ndombélé.
Nice equalizes at the end of the suspense
Le Gym was rewarded for its superiority but was punished shortly after when Mitchel Bakker sent a heavy right-footed shot into the roof of the goal (66') while Benjamin André had just hit the post. An amount is also to be put on the counter of Gabriel Gudmundsson (81'), who could definitely have sealed the outcome of the meeting for the Mastiffs. The match was undecided until the 96th minute despite these last Lille chances. Marcin Bulka went up for a free kick whistled in favor of his team. The ball returned to the feet of Tom Louchet who sent a low shot into the goal, with the help of the post, from a cross trajectory. A deliverance for the Allianz Riviera public and a twist of fate for LOSC, who were already equalized by Lyon at the very end of the match on the last day. Nice sees its series of two victories come to an end in the championship and LOSC, who will leave with regrets, despite everything continues its series of invincibility in the championship, which now stands at seven matches.
