150 people responded to the late call from the brand new Anti-Racist Collective of Tonneinquais, to share a civic, family and protest moment, on the Place des Écuries-Royales, Sunday November 10, at noon. An influx to mirror the more than 2,600 people expected in the afternoon at Manoque, to welcome the president of the National Rally, Jordan Bardella. These families, these young people and these seniors wanted to embody, on this special day, other values.
“Equality, fraternity, solidarity; there are no aliens on Earth; the 47 welcoming land: we ride for these values, to live it together,” said Émilie, Flo, Alexia and Hénia, the instigators of this collective, which was created barely a week ago. “We responded to a request from those who did not want to remain inactive in the face of this coming. But there is no partisan and political logic behind this first gathering and the actions that we wish to carry out subsequently, on the territory. »
Good-natured gathering
A wish more than a reality, since elected officials from Tonneins, Virazeil and Clairac were seen there. “On the other hand, the mayor, Dante Rinaudo, by authorizing this arrival of the RN, in a certain way endorses his ideas,” insisted Hénia Khamissi, an elected representative from the Toninque opposition. He should remember a little more about his roots and where he came from. »
Despite some fears among the oldest, the gathering remained good-natured and without violence, since no wandering had been planned or authorized. “By coming together, we just want to act where policies have failed, to propose something else. But also simply to meet again, to give another image of the city and society, and to say that another path is possible. » Speeches, music and a gourmet buffet enlivened the demonstration, which was held largely away from RN supporters.
